Why did Jesus Christ die on the cross? What is the point of the resurrection of Jesus Christ? If Jesus Christ was not raised from the dead then Christianity is completely false and void, and that would make Jesus Christ a false Messiah. To go even farther if Jesus Christ was not resurrected then the Old Testament would also be invalid and not true as many of the Messianic prophecies of a coming Messiah who would give His life as a sacrifice and would be resurrected did not happen then those Scriptures would be false and thus the Bible would be false. Many people have questions about Easter or what is called Easter which is connected to the time of what is called Holy Week. During Holy Week we have the fulfillment of Palm Sunday, the coming of the Suffering Messiah who is Jesus Christ who gave His life as atonement for sin dying on the cross and through His resurrection defeating sin and death. All those who put their complete trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour will be saved, and receive the gift of eternal life.
"The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ was crucified not as a tragic accident of history, but as the central act of God’s plan to redeem humanity from sin. According to the Scriptures, all people have sinned and fall short of God’s holiness (Romans 3:23), and the just penalty for sin is death (Romans 6:23). Out of love, God sent His Son to take that penalty upon Himself. Jesus lived a sinless life and willingly went to the cross as a substitute, bearing the judgment that sinners deserved. As Isaiah foretold centuries earlier, “He was pierced for our transgressions… and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:5–6). His death was not merely physical suffering, but a sacrificial offering to satisfy God’s justice and make forgiveness possible.
The Old Testament contains many prophecies pointing to the Messiah’s suffering, death, and resurrection. Psalm 22 vividly describes crucifixion details long before it was practiced, including pierced hands and feet and the casting of lots for garments. Isaiah 53 presents the Servant of the Lord who would be rejected, killed, and yet “prolong His days,” pointing to life after death. Psalm 16:10 declares that God would not allow His Holy One to see corruption, a prophecy the New Testament explicitly connects to Jesus’ resurrection. Even Jesus Himself said that just as Jonah was in the fish three days, so He would be in the heart of the earth and rise again (Matthew 12:40). These fulfilled prophecies demonstrate that His death and resurrection were planned and promised by God long before they occurred.
On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, proving that His sacrifice was accepted and that He has power over sin and death. The resurrection is essential: it confirms that Jesus is truly the Son of God, validates His claims, and guarantees eternal life for those who belong to Him. As the apostle Paul wrote, if Christ has not been raised, faith is empty—but because He has risen, believers have a living hope (1 Corinthians 15:17–20). This event is not just historical; it is deeply personal and relevant today because it means forgiveness is available, death is defeated, and a restored relationship with God is possible.
In response, the Bible calls every person to repent and believe the gospel. To be saved from sin is not about earning favor through good works, but about trusting in what Jesus has already accomplished. A person must turn from sin (repent), believe that Jesus died for their sins and rose again, and place their full trust in Him as Lord and Savior (Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9). Salvation is a gift of grace received through faith, and all who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. This is why the message of the cross and the empty tomb remains the most important message in the world today."
