Took a family vacation to Monticello Illinois for the weekend of their Railroad Days.
We spent all day Saturday riding the Mixed Freight led by Southern #401, the freight train led by IC #8733, and the motorcars.
The kids also enjoyed the peddle cars, bouncy houses, exotic animals, model trains, and getting to blow the train horns.
Also running that day, but we didn't have time to ride was MILW 1649 running the caboose hop, and Wabash 1189 with the business train.
If you have never visited the Monticello Railway Museum I highly recommend making a trip. Their Railroad Days is also a great deal for families, as you just pay one price for an arm band, and ride every train you want.
