In monasteries and temples across Tibet, monks pair up each day to debate the tenets of Buddhism. One monk asks a question of the other, who answers. This is followed by heated debate, complete with lunges, finger pointing, flinging prayer beads, and startlingly loud hand-clapping. It often seems that the monks are arguing angrily, but they aren't. The process is designed to make them delve more deeply into Buddhist philosophy.
