I could have traveled around Ecuador for a year and would still have not seen all these traditional Quichua costumes. But by some great good fortune, I arrived in Alausi, Ecuador during the weekend they were celebrating the Independence of the town. Part of the festivities included a gathering of indigenous Quichua from all the sectors of Alausi, each of whom performed a biblical verse to song and a traditional dance. Since I was invited to be an honored guest by the town fathers, I had a second row seat on the main floor, which allowed me a rare opportunity to video the Quichua, who are normally very reticent about having their photos taken.
