Willem Laanstra has designed a magnificent model railroad layout in gauge 1 (1/32 scale) that consists of long sidings and shunting tracks for smoking steam locomotives and humming diesel locomotives. Often model railroads in 1/32 scale are not as richly detailed as HO scale layouts. But even with Willem Laanstra’s model railway layout we can discover a lot of details. Therefore, Pilentum Television has focused less on the rolling stock and more on the many beautiful details layout while filming.
On the left side of this modular model rail layout, there is the old paper mill which has its own siding. The track leads directly from the factory over a small steel bridge and joins the main track. Opposite the factory, a storage shed is located. Four tracks extend from the storage shed to the main station which is called “Bad Willemshoehe”. Two tracks are used for passenger traffic and are equipped with platforms. The other two tracks are reserved for freight traffic.
Behind the station, there are a signal box and a level crossing, where all four tracks merge onto a single main track that leads finally into the fiddle yard on the right side of the model train layout. Each section impresses with many loving details, for example with the tractor next to the railroad track, the clock on the station building, the rusty tracks, the trees and the weathered rolling stock.
