MKWii TAS Competition 2021 - Task 6:
On GBA Bowser Castle 3, using a maximum of FIVE feather POWs, complete lap ONE as fast as possible.
- You may NOT perform an ultra shortcut
- You may NOT touch the yellow ramps (flames will come out of your bike/kart, and you will potentially drop to 50-ish speed)
This was a solo task so you could not collaborate with anyone else.

This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). Played on SwareJonges Dolphin 5.0 LUA Core v3.5.1. Tools used: slow-down, savestates, frame advance, TAS code, and RAM watch (info display).

I really didnt like that terrible MG TAS sitting there, and I wanted to improve it, so I did. Took a few hours to make and then another few hours to get on Youtube but here it is!
In this run you can now see the optimal cave ramp hop and also a few new faster strats on laps 2 and 3 (the drift on the single red mushroom, the RFH on the first green mushroom, the lap 3 ending strat). Yes, I intentionally lost 0.010 in order for the title/time to be what it is, youre not crazy seeing the faster times at the very end...

The big difference between this TAS and the previous one is the respawn strat, discovered by @Jellopuff in his recent Platinum Runner TAS Strats 2 video. A lot of people were skeptical of Spear being able to perform the respawn but I was able to do it :)

...And the gap between the RTA WR and the TAS BKT for this category widens to more than 1 second for the first time in history!
This was a classic pre-2019 style flap project where I simply decided to improve this run with no specific improvements in mind and then did so.
The improvements are as follows:
- Doing the first turn drifts more efficiently
- Implementing @TASPlasmas second turn slip drift strat from 2019 (https://youtu.be/Pr-HL2I7w4E)
- Getting a lower double trick
- Getting a wheelie at the ending cut (and also approaching it tighter)
Im sure there are other improvements to be found, but this is the best I was able to do, and Im really just enjoying TASing for the sake of TASing while I still have the chance.

I found this a few days ago and wanted to whip something together to show off the new strat and its potential. There are known improvements and a WIP that will become a more optimal TAS coming, and if were super lucky it might be a sub 37, but for now heres the cool one :)
As for Task 13 and Task 14 results videos, my laptop broke so all my settings and presets I had used for TAS comp videos I am unable to access, so I have to wait until I get that back from repairs (which will also have to wait until after lockdown to happen) before I can start working on those. As of this upcoming week, Ill also have Task 15 results that I have on my overdue list :(

No audio because this is both old and bad. Essentially, I dont want to spend my time editing a video to good quality when it isnt worth it to give the video any good quality.
This revision of the lap 1 was never uploaded, only a 51.109 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uahdDKdMaAc) however both that and this were done in September 2019. Biggest thanks go to CF and Jello who did the original start slide and bridge stick movement (in a prelim 51.988 lap 1 from July 2019) and kickstarted this project for me to work on.")
