Task 20:
On GCN Peach Beach, using the Green Shell item code, complete lap ONE as fast as possible, whilst killing the cataquacks with your green shells.
- You may use ANY character
- You may use ANY vehicle
- You must use manual transmission
- You MUST hit all of the SIX cataquacks with exactly ONE green shell each
- You may let the green shells bounce on walls
- You MUST trick off both of the ramps
This was an optional collab task so you could collaborate with one other person.

So, Series 4 of Custom Track Jams just had its debut competition, which was an Autumn-themed Jam, featuring none other than my first cutsom track by @p00ks1. This track garnered a lot of popularity due to its sheer length and brokenness. Many people initially got times in the 10-15 minute range, and begun pushing their times down to 3-4 minutes.
My first attempt was a 9:00, using Flame Runner. I soon realised Magikruiser would be faster as there were multiple minutes of offroad driving, which helped me get down to a 6:58. I then came up with the grass jam sign strat and 2 major reroutes - the first from KCP 1 to KCP 3 and the second from KCP 3 to KCP 6 - which brought my time down to a 3:07. Now that I was skipping the long offroad section, I switched to Spear, and took my time down to 3:00 and then 2:57.
@KaneTheSnowman then beat this time RTA, so I messaged him asking what strategies he had used. He didnt use the grass jam sign (obviously) or the first reroute, and managed to respawn directly in KCP 3. I was then able to get a 2:47 by copying these strats, though found the grass jam sign to still be faster and got a 2:41. I tested supergrinding in the tunnel, and using a very precise ejection involving all 4 sides of the tunnel, was able to make it faster by less than half a second, and got a 2:40. Further optimisation over the next few days brought me down to my goal of 2:39.
I hope to continue work on the second episode of the tutorial soon - huge apologies to those who Ive left on an educational cliffhanger. In the meantime, if you join the MKWii TAS discord, you should be able to find enough help to bring you the rest of the way without further tutorial episodes.")
