In this video we take a ride on Mississauga Miway’s route 35 Eglinton, which runs east and west between Miway’s Kipling Terminal & Churchill Meadows Community Centre along Eglinton. Route 35 runs 7 days a week almost 24 hours a day, and is based out of both Miway’s Central Parkway Garage and Malton Garage. This route uses 40 foot, and 60 foot transit buses.
2201 is a 2022 New Flyer Xcelsior DE40 (XDE40) and is part of a 74 unit order (2201-2274) These buses are Miway’s first purchase of Diesel Hybrid Electric 40 foot New Flyers, aswell as the first major order since 2008. These units are also the first 40 foot New Flyer Xcelsior buses purchased for Local use since 2011, which makes them pretty special. They are also the first fleet of BAE Hybrid XDE40’s to enter service in Ontario. The units have new drivers seats, aswell as a revised livery . They’re powered by a Cummins 6.7L 250HP Turbocharged inline 6 Cylinder EPA2019 Clean Diesel Engine (B6.7) & a BAE Systems Hybridrive Series 200 Extended Range (BAE HDS200 E-R). To go more into detail for those who don’t know, The HDS200 Series E-R uses a Larger battery. These units ride on MAN Drive Axles, and have driver controlled heating and cooling for both driver and passengers. These buses also feature USB charging ports in many places around the bus, electric powered doors and the middle seat at the rear is covered with a bar so people don’t fly forward incase of an accident. These buses also feature 4ONE Aries seats for the passengers..
