🚙 Drive America’s Highways for 54 miles north along Mississippi Highway 1 from Rosedale to Lula, Mississippi — a scenic Delta drive along the Great River Road. 🛣️
The drive along Mississippi Highway 1 from Rosedale to Lula follows one of the most historic corridors in the Mississippi Delta. Beginning at the intersection with Mississippi Highway 8 in Rosedale, the route heads north through a landscape defined by vast stretches of farmland, rich alluvial soil, and small, tight-knit communities. The road itself is a two-lane rural highway for much of its length, carrying travelers through places like Wright, Waxhaw, Gunnison, and Francis, each reflecting the quiet rhythm of life in the Delta.
Continuing north, the highway intersects Mississippi Highway 32 near Perthshire before crossing MS-444 close to Round Lake. Later, near Sherard, it meets MS-322 as it approaches its northern end. The journey concludes near Lula, where MS-1 terminates at U.S. Route 49, linking back into one of the Delta’s key north–south highways.
This route is more than just a connector between towns—it is part of the Great River Road, a nationally designated scenic byway that traces the Mississippi River’s course through ten states. Along this section, travelers get a sense of the region’s history and culture, from its agricultural heritage to its ties to blues music and river commerce. The flat Delta fields stretch to the horizon, punctuated by tree lines, levees, and waterways, creating a drive that is as tranquil as it is historically significant.

![Interstate 40: Dora to Shawnee ~ Oklahoma | Real Roads, Real Drives [Remastered]
🚙 Drive America’s Highways for 145 miles west along Interstate 40 from Dora to Shawnee, Oklahoma — crossing eastern Oklahoma’s prairie edge and into a longtime regional hub.
Interstate 40 between Dora and Shawnee offers a steady, uninterrupted drive through a portion of eastern Oklahoma shaped by agriculture, rail lines, and regional travel rather than tourist-oriented highways. The video begins at the Arkansas–Oklahoma state line near Dora, where I-40 enters the state and immediately settles into a rural landscape defined by open pastureland, tree-lined stretches, and gently rolling terrain. This segment of interstate feels spacious and deliberate, with long sightlines and minimal curvature that emphasize the openness of the surrounding countryside.
As the route continues west, Interstate 40 remains largely removed from town centers, serving instead as a high-speed connector between communities rather than a local main street. Interchanges link to smaller towns and county roads set back from the highway, offering brief glimpses of rural Oklahoma life without interrupting the flow of travel. Freight rail corridors running near the interstate highlight the area’s long-standing role in regional transportation and commerce. The scenery alternates between open prairie, scattered wooded sections, and occasional farm structures, creating a drive that is calm and consistent from mile to mile.
Traffic volumes remain moderate through much of this segment, reinforcing the interstate’s role as a through route rather than a congested urban corridor. The roadway design reflects modern interstate standards, with wide shoulders, gentle grades, and clear separation from surrounding development. This allows the landscape itself to take center stage, particularly during longer straightaways where the horizon seems to stretch endlessly ahead.
Approaching Shawnee, the character of the drive gradually shifts. Commercial development becomes more frequent, traffic density increases, and the number of interchanges grows as the interstate begins to serve a more urban function. Shawnee has long been a regional center for commerce and transportation, and Interstate 40 reflects that role as it guides traffic toward local routes such as SH-3E. The transition from rural outskirts to city edge is gradual and measured, marking a clear change in pace without an abrupt break in scenery.
This segment of Interstate 40 provides a straightforward look at eastern Oklahoma travel — a modern interstate experience grounded in wide-open landscapes, regional connectivity, and the gradual approach to a central Oklahoma city.

![Interstate 55: Festus to St. Louis | Real Roads, Real Drives [Revisited]
🚙 Drive America’s Highways for 34 miles north along Interstate 55 from Festus to St. Louis, Missouri — from suburban Jefferson County into the heart of the city.
Travel north on Interstate 55 from the U.S. Route 67 interchange in Festus to eastbound Interstate 44 in St. Louis on a steadily developing drive through Jefferson County and the southern St. Louis metropolitan area. The video begins near Festus and Crystal City, where I-55 serves as the primary north-south highway connecting communities along the Mississippi River corridor with the St. Louis region. Leaving the US 67 interchange, the interstate continues through a mixture of wooded hills, commercial development, residential areas, and open land that reflects the gradual transition from the outer metropolitan fringe toward the more densely developed suburbs.
North of Festus, Interstate 55 passes through communities such as Herculaneum, Pevely, Barnhart, Imperial, and Arnold. This section of the highway remains busy but generally open, with long stretches of divided interstate bordered by rolling terrain and established neighborhoods. The route provides access to numerous local roads and commercial districts while continuing to function as one of the principal travel corridors between southeastern Missouri and St. Louis. As the drive approaches Arnold, development becomes more continuous, and the surrounding landscape increasingly takes on the character of a major metropolitan area.
Continuing north, I-55 crosses the Meramec River and enters St. Louis County, where traffic, interchanges, and roadside development become noticeably more concentrated. The interstate passes through the southern suburbs near Mehlville and Lemay before reaching the city of St. Louis. Along this portion of the drive, the roadway is lined with a changing mixture of commercial properties, residential neighborhoods, industrial areas, and transportation infrastructure. The route also provides connections to major local streets and highways serving South County and the southern sections of the city.
After entering St. Louis, Interstate 55 continues through established urban neighborhoods while approaching the central portion of the city. The skyline and denser street network gradually become more visible as the highway nears downtown. The video concludes at the interchange with eastbound Interstate 44, where traffic can continue toward downtown St. Louis, the Mississippi River, and connections with other major regional highways. From the wooded hills near Festus to the urban landscape of St. Louis, this drive captures the full transition from an outer Missouri community into the state’s largest metropolitan area.

![Interstate 22: Birmingham, Alabama to Tupelo, Mississippi | Real Roads, Real Drives [Repost]
🚙 Drive Americas Highways for 128 miles west along Interstate 22 from Birmingham, Alabama to Tupelo, Mississippi 🛣️
Interstate 22 serves as a vital east–west corridor linking Birmingham, Alabama, with Tupelo, Mississippi, and ultimately forms part of the larger route toward Memphis. This stretch of highway follows the path of the historic U.S. Highway 78, which has long connected northern Mississippi with central Alabama. The drive offers travelers a smooth and efficient route across rolling hills, river valleys, and stretches of rural countryside while tying together important population centers and economic hubs.
The video begins in Birmingham at the eastern terminus of I-22, where the highway meets Interstate 65. Heading northwest, the route quickly departs the urban environment of Birmingham’s metro area and transitions into a more rural landscape characterized by tree-lined hills and small towns. Along the way, the interstate parallels the historic corridor of U.S. 78, serving communities such as Jasper, Hamilton, and other towns scattered across northern Alabama. After crossing into Mississippi, I-22 continues westward, maintaining its steady pace through forested areas and open farmland until reaching Tupelo. Here, the route concludes at the junction with U.S. 45, a major north–south highway linking the region with destinations as far north as Corinth and as far south as Meridian.
This segment of Interstate 22 not only provides an important link for commerce and regional travel but also offers drivers a comfortable journey through the natural scenery of northern Alabama and northeastern Mississippi. The corridor reflects modern infrastructure built on top of historic routes, ensuring continuity for travelers across the Deep South.

![Arkansas Highway 9: Crows to Morrilton | Real Roads, Real Drives [Repost]
🚙 Drive Americas Highways for 46 miles north along Arkansas Highway 9 from Crows to Morrilton, Arkansas.
The drive along Arkansas Highway 9 from Crows to Morrilton begins at the intersection with Arkansas Highway 5 in the small community of Crows, south of Paron. Traveling northward, the route quickly settles into a rural rhythm, winding through the wooded hills and farmland of western Saline County. Passing through the community of Paron, Highway 9 follows a scenic path marked by rolling terrain and stretches of pine and hardwood forest, with occasional clearings that offer views across the valley.
Continuing north, the highway reaches Williams Junction, where connections can be made to routes heading east toward Little Rock or north toward Perryville. From here, the road enters Perry County and climbs gently through the Ouachita foothills toward Thornburg. Beyond Thornburg, the terrain begins to level out as the highway approaches Perryville, the county seat. In Perryville, Highway 9 intersects with other important local routes and serves as a main thoroughfare through the heart of town, passing near the courthouse square and community landmarks.
North of Perryville, the drive transitions into the Arkansas River Valley. Passing through the communities of Perry and Oppelo, Highway 9 provides access to outdoor recreation areas including Petit Jean State Park just west of Oppelo. The route concludes as it enters Morrilton, where Highway 9 meets East Harding Street, which also carries the designation of Highway 9 Business. This final stretch ties the rural corridor together, linking the wooded uplands of Saline County with the river valley community of Morrilton.

![Arkansas Highway 46: Sheridan to Leola | Real Roads, Real Drives [Revisited]
🚙 Drive America’s Highways for about 15 miles southwest along Arkansas Highway 46 from Sheridan to Leola, Arkansas — quiet pine woods and a detour to historic Jenkins Ferry.
This short but classic Grant County run starts at US 270 in downtown Sheridan and follows Arkansas Highway 46 through working timberland and low, flat river country toward Leola. The video begins with small-town cues—local businesses thinning out, school zones and a couple of low-speed stretches—before settling into a steady rural rhythm. AR-46 is a simple two-lane corridor with modest shoulders, gentle curves, and a few mild elevation changes as it rolls southeast. Expect stretches of planted pines, open pasture, and roadside ponds, with the occasional logging truck or farm rig sharing the route. As the miles click by, traffic lightens and the scenery opens into the broad Saline River bottom, where the highway straightens and the forest closes in just a bit. Wayfinding is straightforward: stay on 46, watch for county road signs, and enjoy the easy pace.
Midway through the drive, plan a brief side trip to Jenkins Ferry State Park—signed via a short spur off AR-46—where a quiet riverside clearing preserves one of the Civil War’s Red River Campaign battle sites. Even without stepping far from the roadway, the park’s interpretive markers and shaded tables make an ideal pause before the final leg. Back on 46, the landscape remains calm and green as the route angles toward Leola, with long forward views punctuated by creek crossings and utility corridors. The drive concludes at the eastern junction with AR-229 in Leola, a small community that still feels connected to the woods and the river. As end-to-end corridor coverage, this segment shows AR-46 exactly as locals know it: a practical connector with a surprising bit of history tucked just off the pavement.
