On June 1st, 2021, 36-year-old Kandi Green Gonzalez disappeared from Prestonburg, Kentucky. After being “thrown out” by her boyfriend, Jeff Blackburn, she was last seen asking for help on a property on Abbott Creek Road prior to running into a creek.
According to Kandi's family, local law enforcement have provided little aid in search efforts. 2 weeks following her disappearance, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department finally announced that they would be conducting a large-scale search for Kandi on Saturday, June 19th.
Jeff Blackburn's father, John K. Blackburn, served as the former sheriff of Floyd County, where all this is taking place. He was also the president of Kentucky’s Sheriff’s association until 2013.
Could the Blackburn's ties to law enforcement explain the slow response to Kandi's disappearance? Where is Kandi now?
