James Doig, historical keyboardist, performs ‘Australian Flowers’ by Miska Hauser in the drawing room of Vaucluse House. There are few clues to the musical tastes of the Wentworth family at Vaucluse House in the 19th century, so we have chosen a piece from a celebrated Sydney publication, ‘The Australian Album’ (1857) found at Rouse Hill Estate and asked James to record it at Vaucluse. James is performing on a Collard & Collard grand piano brought to Australia in around 1863.
