Episode Five in a series of videos about building a mini coracle.
Not much construction in this video, but some discussion about stability, buoyancy and ballast. What has happened to the garden boat though? Look out for video six in the (inaccurately named) five video series!
Episode 1 talks about all the things you will need
Episode 2 is about making a board to hold the frame (wee bit of maths)
Episode 3 is weaving a frame for the boat
Episode 4 is covering it with a 'skin'
Episode 5 (this one!) is finishing touches
These videos discuss materials and tools to make a model boat which will float. The boat uses the same principles as used to build wee skin boats for floating down a welsh river chasing the fish, or a large curragh like St Brendan would have used when he might have sailed to America whilst looking for Ultima Thule.
They are made for adults to use with those they are responsible for looking after. I'd normally be running these workshops in person, on the street with the general public or in schools. When business re-opens perhaps you'd like to hire me! wordsmithcrafts.co.uk
