NOTE: I'm aware that this farm is technically not automatic. The original farm was (as far as I can tell) designed by flexyque who named it the automatic sugarcane farm - this is merely a tutorial on my adaptation of that design. I am not stating that this farm is fully automatic as I'm not even sure that's possible with sugarcane.
A few people requested a tutorial on the automatic sugarcane/reed farm (yeah, you might've noticed I prefer calling them reeds =p) that I had in my world. So (finally... my bad) here it is.
Although I only build a two-tier farm in this video and do so by digging out the first layer and building the rest, you can create the farm with as many or as few tiers as you want and can make it by either digging it out completely or building it up completely.
I need to stress again that I did not come up with the idea for this farm - credit for that goes to flexyque. However, flexyque never does a tutorial or anything so this design probably deviates quite a bit from his original... but it works perfectly =)
