The original United Artists opening and closing titles to the 1933 Disney cartoon Mickey’s Mechanical Man, scanned from a 16mm Kodak print dated 1944. This is the first cartoon that I know of to use the final version of the black and white Mickey headshot that would become standard right up to Mickey’s Kangaroo in 1935. It’s also the earliest Mickey I’ve seen to use a cross-dissolve to a large title card (instead of zooming in on the title [early 1933] or fading out the Mickey and Minnie card [1928–32]). However, this headshot and the cross-dissolve might also have been introduced in The Mail Pilot, which was released just before this. The soundtrack is the same as on the burlap reissue and the recreated version (which looks nothing like this) on Mickey Mouse in Black and White Vol. 2.
