After seeing the DARPA Chief die in the 1st Floor Basement of the Nuclear Disposal Facility, it's time to take his Level 1 Security Card to the 2nd Floor Basement.

With a Level 1 Card, all doors with a "1" on them will automatically open when the card is equipped.

One of the doors in this basement will let you pick up C4. You'll need these to destroy certain walls that look and sound different. Some of these lead to more pickups, but the one Southwest is the path that will lead to Baker... after another fake wall beyond it.
----------

Snake eventually reaches the ArmsTech President Kenneth Baker, but he's tied up and surrounded by tripwires that are rigged for C4s.

The man who tied him up like this is none other than FOXHOUND's gunfighter and interrogation specialist: Revolver Ocelot. The man is pretty mean with twirling his Colt Single Action Army pistol.

Time for a shoot-off!
----------

For this boss fight, you have to chase Ocelot down with your gun. Remember that you can move while shooting by holding X after holding Square. Take note that Ocelot also has an ammo meter that he'll have to reload. This will give you can opening against him.

All while this is happening, you NEED to stay away from the tripwires, or they'll blow up Baker, let alone you needing to not accidentally shoot the old moaning man, himself. If he dies, it's an instant Game Over. *YOU IDIOT!!!*

Ocelot seems to REALLY love the feeling of reloading, by the way...
----------

Snake wins the gunfight, leaving Ocelot impressed. However, Ocelot was ready for a second round...

But then something... or someone... suddenly sliced off his hand! And then also freed Baker without letting the C4s kill him!

This being had stealth camouflage, but then appeared as some kind of... Cyborg Ninja!

Ocelot was forced to flee, and when the ninja prepared to approach Baker, he suddenly went berserk and left, as well, leaving Snake to finally have a calm 1 on 1 with the ArmsTech President.
----------

Snake soon found out from Baker that he was forced to give FOXHOUND his detonation code, as well. He resisted Psycho Mantis' powers, but couldn't resist Ocelot's torture. Baker also couldn't believe that the DARPA Chief died from a heart attack.

Baker didn't have the 3 card keys to prevent the detonation. They were instead with a woman... a woman that Snake likely already met earlier, and from more of Baker's words, she's apparently Colonel's niece...

The woman even has a CODEC, but... it's on the back of the CD case. This GAME's own case.

As another alternative to prevent the Metal Gear REX's launch, Snake will need to locate the leader of the Metal Gear REX project: Dr. Hal Emmerich. He's somewhere in the Nuclear Warhard Storage Building that's north from the Nuclear Disposal Facility.

Baker then went on a lecture about the continued threats of nuclear war, and how Metal Gear is going to be used to be the most dominant force of it all.

Baker gives Snake an optical disc, and a Security Level 2 Card. He also wanted Snake to ask Naomi about the ninja that appeared, too.

And then... just like the DARPA Chief, he died from some sort of heart attack...
----------

Colonel & Naomi still didn't know about this case, either, though Snake had heavier suspicions...

For now, Snake needs to work with Meryl, the woman Baker was talking about...
----------

Meryl's CODEC Frequency is 140.15. Snake finally gets to have a formal chat with Colonel's niece.

Turns out that Meryl is another fangirl of Solid Snake, and likewise Snake threw some more compliments to the woman. Meryl was also shocked that Snake looked so much like Liquid.

Meryl revealed that the Shadow Moses Island base was specifically for the development of Metal Gear, rather than being a hijacked station for it.

Meryl will help Snake reach Dr. Emmerich, but she also wants to join Snake through his fights. However, Snake didn't want her to join her because of how she hesitated in a gunfight before.

Meryl had spent a lot of her life learning to be a soldier, but she couldn't process taking someone else's life for it, Snake wanted her to learn to overcome that.
----------

Before leaving the 2nd Floor Basement, use the Level 2 Security Card to pick up some Grenades and a FA-MAS assault rifle. Watch out for infrared sensors where the FA-MAS is. Use Thermal Goggles (or the cigarettes) to see them.

I also get another CODEC, military analyst Nastasha Romanenko at 141.52. She's also a nuclear specialist, mainly because she DETESTS the sight of anyone exploiting any use of nuclear weapons and wants to help Snake prevent further disasters involving them.
----------

Still in the Disposal Facility, return to the 1F and Meryl will unlock the hatch room out the north. Beware of moving infrared sensors there. Touch one of them, and the room gets locked and gassed, basically netting you a Game Over.

Meryl also decided she's gonna team with Snake after all, much to his chagrin (or rather his worry)...
