This round the island 13.5 mile circular walk provides a somewhat unique three sixty degree experience all within a day’s walk. With the Essex coast generally facing south, this island walk affords sea views to the north, whilst taking in the sunrise and sunset horizons. It’s an island of contrasts with open farmed land dominating the eastern shores, and the hubbub of shops, cafes and restaurants scattered around the seafaring enterprises on the west.
The Essex coast is renowned for its wintering birdlife and the King Charles III England Coast Path allows for a myriad of habitats to be experienced, host to many different species. But the island also hosts something quite different - a secretive and special population of red squirrels.
