Here's a more unusual set. Supposedly 4W output; I've never seen that on one. Anyway we ended up with 2.8W on this one. These are crystal conrolled. Be aware that many of this type of set come with only one channel of crystals fitted. This Merit model has all six chanels filled.

These are difficult & time consuming to service...no external aerial socket...no external speaker/earphone so these sets have to be dismantled in order to solder test leads to the points.

These are 12V sets intended to run from 8 x AA batteries. External must not exceed 12V; they cannot be conneced to a car with the engine running which would be 13.8V. Most hand-portables of this era are also 12V only.
