I decided we'd borrow the main board from our new demonstration model for this radio belongng to Trucking & Farming. This gets the job back to the customer in a timely manner & I'll replace the dodgy audio IC on his board at my leisure. These are curret models. We ended up with full 4W output. Receive was very good at something like 0.37uV for 20dB SINAD.

On the minus side, squelch is in the menu so is a faff. Changing the country code results in the radio doing a master reset & losing the squelch. Ours defaulted to CTCSS activated upon reset meaning having to going the menu & switching it off...or you have no audible receive. Switching bands within your country code...in our case UK FM to CEPT FM results in the radio staying in the previous band until you press the PTT for a moment. All this seems clunky & I feel it is badly thought through firmware. As for the stupid & childish muti tone toger bleep the set defaults to........
