Along with the trucks that will be powered by internal combustion engines, the eEconic will be produced on the current Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks assembly line in a flexible and concurrent manner. The eEconic's electrification continues in the Future Truck Center, where, like the eActros, it is outfitted with the electric drive components, after the car has been largely constructed. The high-voltage batteries and the charging device are installed, among other things, in a number of industrial steps. After assembling all of the high-voltage parts, the system may be activated, and the vehicle is then ready to be driven.
Series production of the Mercedes-Benz eEconic for inner-city municipal applications begins at Daimler Truck.
The Special Trucks truck is the second battery-electric Mercedes-Benz truck to leave the Wörth production line, following the eActros' introduction to series production.
The eEconic and eActros share the same vehicle architecture. It is produced in the Future Truck Center using electrification and flexibility in Special Truck production.
Furthering employee development At the Wörth location, over 2,700 workers have already undergone training in high-voltage vehicles and electric component assembly.
Urbaser A/S, a Danish waste management company, will get the first eEconic made in series. Delivery of further vehicles is scheduled in stages throughout the year.
