I am STILL feeling it with Ikenfell, a game that's got enough charm and love in it to match its huge stellar soundtrack! I wanted to challenge myself to do a cover of one of the shorter songs using one of my new mixing templates and focus on Halloween-fueled scary sounds. Memory Shards plays whenever characters recall sad, meaningful, or otherwise significant memories in the story and it sticks with you so much! That ostinato and those intruding piano fills really get the mood just right, and something about it feels like a Halloween horror track buried inside. We made this entire thing on Twitch in 2.5 hours (do follow me there if you're curious!) and I filmed it using a few extra tricks and toys just to get some practice there!
Many of you know that I have a bit of an elaborate experimental filming setup, so I wanted to see how I could reproduce all the cool sounds, scratches, and slides I did in video. I also played with some flickering and really like the little choir shots, something I'll want to play with more in the future! While I'm waiting on some key costume things to arrive so I can do my full Halloween-timed video, I'd have felt really bad if I couldn't do something a little scary and special for the holiday too. Hopefully for a quick one you still enjoy the tribute to this track, and have an extra safe Halloween!
