As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry prepare to hire staff for a new U.K. home, past reports about Markle’s behavior toward household staff are reportedly deterring applicants. A prior Kensington Palace staff bullying allegation and claims of 'rude' interviews have circulated, attributed by Page Six to unnamed sources. Royal correspondent Richard Eden recounted on the Palace Confidential podcast an alleged interview where Markle reviewed papers before telling a candidate to leave. Applicants were reportedly told not to speak or make eye contact during interviews and to hand over résumés while standing aside. A source close to the Sussexes said the suggestion Markle interviewed anyone in a rude manner is categorically untrue, as the couple’s return draws renewed attention to disputed accounts.
