Donald Trump said Tiger Woods’ DUI punishment was "very fair," noting prior advice that the golfer hire a driver after his March crash.

Following Woods’s no-contest plea and guilty finding for reckless and careless driving on September 2, Trump referenced the case’s resolution and the five-year driving ban tied to the Tiger Woods DUI.

The president, 80, also addressed Woods, 50, expressing support and reiterating earlier counsel as part of his Donald Trump reaction to the incident.

Trump said authorities did not find alcohol and discussed Woods’s back pain and painkiller use, citing a prior surgery.

Woods rolled his Land Rover in March, appeared on bodycam video calling Trump, and on March 31 announced he would seek treatment in Switzerland.
