The National Trust for Historic Preservation asked the Supreme Court to halt ongoing work on a $400 million White House ballroom, saying the pace risks undermining judicial review. Court filings describe the Trump White House ballroom project and the Trust’s challenge to the administration’s authority without congressional approval. The National Trust told the Supreme Court the government continued construction despite the pending case. The administration, rejecting the accusation on Wednesday, August 19, called the claim false and cited extraordinary security threats. Filings outline an integrated military complex with underground hardened structures as roughly 250 workers operate in two 10-hour shifts, seven days a week.
