Misinformation now spreads like wildfire. From misleading headlines to non-expert influencers and cherry-picking of data it can be like the wild, wild west out there. Marine scientist Ellen Prager and Meteorologist and AMS Fellow Dave Jones (CEO, StormCenter Communications) recently released a book to combat misinformation and provide accurate science in an easily digestible format—with a little humor thrown in. They answer frequently asked questions about the ocean and atmosphere with a scatter of wacky cartoon-like illustrations. They also explain the importance of data and credible sources, and how to find them. In this webinar we visit with Ellen and Dave to talk about misinformation, their book, and the need for broader public and community engagement.
