Playthrough | Part 1: Start the Zero Dimension Arc
To prepare for the upcoming entry, Neptunia Unlimited, it's time to tackle the game that follows after Victory/Re;Birth3. Welcome to the fourth mainline entry of the Neptunia series, Megadimension Neptunia VII.
Megadimension Neptunia VII is the fourth mainline entry in the Neptunia series. It was released first for the PS4 on April 23, 2015 in Japan, September 22 in Korea, February 2, 2016 in North America and February 12 in Europe. Steam would get it on July 5. A Nintendo Switch version would be released in Japan on March 19, 2020. Asia would get it on June 18 and North America & Europe on July 28. Funny enough, this game would get a remake known as Megadimension Neptunia VIIR. That would be released on August 24, 2017 in Japan, January 30, 2018 in Korea, May 8 in North America and May 11 in Europe. Steam would get it on October 22. For the sake of things, I will be focusing on the PS4 version and yes, I did get almost all the DLC for it. You'll know why later.
Something I should also mention is that the name has a double meaning. The VII can mean two different things. The first is that it's actually Victory II, serving as the sequel to Victory. The other is that “VII” can also mean 7 as it's the seventh Neptunia game. Ignoring the Re;Birth trilogy, there were three main line entries along with, at the time, three spinoffs. So yeah.
As for the story, it's set three years after the events of Neptunia Victory/Re;Birth3. Gamindustri is entering a unstable season known as the CPU Shift Period. Essentially, rumors about the CPU have started saturating Gamindustri. Neptune and the others are concerned. Why? Because the citizens may call for new leaders to replace them and their time would end. After a nap, Neptune hears a voice calling for help. She then finds a strange game console. She brings it to the Basilicom and shows it to Nepgear. But then Histoire comes in to lecture them about the CPU Shift Period. After she leaves, Nepgear tries fixing it, only for both sisters to get sucked into a vortex. This takes them to a strange place and the start of the first arc of Neptunia VII.
Welcome to Zero Dimension Neptunia Z: Twilight of the Desperate CPU. Oh and one more thing. Neptunia VII is split into three story arcs. This is the first. Upon arrival, Neptune and Nepgear end up in the Zerodimension and it's a world that is near it's inevitable end. It's also here we're introduced to a new character: Uzume Tennouboshi, voiced by Erica Lindbeck. She's this dimension's CPU and is fighting to save what remains from the Dark CPUs. And that's only the beginning of this journey.
