However, we must save Dragoon for last, as his level can show up in the first and third set, and beating him in the first set locks us out of Split Mushroom. With this, Dragoon tells us Sigma's plan, which we then relay to Colonel. Thus the soldiers of Repliforce lead the charge into the final weapon to stop Sigma for good. Who even needs the Maverick Hunters?

So we just jump right into the action here, no prologue or anything. But anyway, a new robot named King has attacked the Robot Museum (the same one from Mega Man 7) and plans to use the data stored here to build an army of robots. Proto Man is here to stop him, but is very quickly given the X1 Zero treatment. King then uses the Green Devil, who is somehow even less threatening than his Mega Man 8 version, to cover his escape.
