Having only just gotten the DLC Automatron, I can honestly say it's been much better than I expected, difficult even at my advanced level (75-80 during the ongoing main quest). But even better, you can design and build your own robots! Never in my playthrough have I had access to this much Science! I had, for most of my game, an Intelligence of 3, just enough for Gun Nut. I wanted to see if you could beat the game without Science!
But Automatron needs a Master Hacker to complete (properly), and that's Intelligence 4. So Quinn made a fun run to the Boston Public Library, and found a brilliant collectible as well as making a requested return deposit, and receiving a readable reward for his efforts!
_Update:_ I was wrong about the "unique head mod"- it's not a one of a kind, rather it's one you find on a unique, named droid (Ahab), and then can build yourself at any robot workbench. The mod is called Ahab's Helm, and in typical Besthesda inconsistency, it does _not_ require a Deathclaw skull! Despite what you can read in Ivey's terminal about how she built Ahab, you won't need to find the incredibly rare "Deathclaw skull" loot! (Please, if you do, let me know, and if you used mods to do it!)
Stay tuned for my Oberland Station Full Tour, it debuts in 20 minutes... at 3:33 pm!
