Totally Vanilla Gaming proudly presents Part 3 of the Graygarden Settlement Tour: Earthbound, detailing the "ground floor" part of the Settlement. It consists of the greenhouse and original garden, the barracks (the first new construction on the site in 211 years!), Grayshade Park, the new scavenging area, and the new Crafting workshop.

This is vanilla build, but additionally, it is a "low tech" design, deliberately not using the Science! perk, or Automatron. I decided to challenge the commonly held notion that Intelligence was the most important S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat, and attempt a playthrough where the Sole Survivor wasn't a genius. I actually find the two LEAST important stats to be Intelligence and Luck. I would never prioritize them, except for a fun romp. You need a 3 in Intelligence for Gun Nut, and that's what my character has. (It's sad that he can completely rebore a .38 barrel to a .50 cal... but cannot figure out how to build a strobe light circuit! Some of this game is so ridiculous...)

The Totally Vanilla esthetic is always a minimalist approach, add as little as necessary to the original Settlement... but always make something unique and fun in each one. I had a lot of fun getting Graygarden to this point.

But this is where it stops, because I can already see frame rate issues - a slight flicker, missing frames on my video clips, especially if I move too fast. The weapon trick/Settlement size glitch is great for boosting how much you can build, but it seems to come with a downside: the more objects, the less frames. I have noticed the same frame rate flicker on other fans' videos, so I know it's not just my machine (PlayStation 4).

If I add anything more, it will be more defenses. I don't see where a missile turret every ten feet ringing your Settlement is any better than one, if strategically placed facing the spawn spot. Unfortunately, one of Graygarden's spawns seems to be inside the wall at the Scavver's picnic table... so I put three Heavy turrets pointing at it. I put a missile turret pointing at the Raider campsite below the Settlement... and guess what? I never see Raiders there anymore!

Special thanks to Billy Ward and the Dominoes for providing the theme music, and for starting Rock and Roll!
