In the mid 1990's McDonald's had a plan. They were going to "shift" their menu to a more adult audience. They hired chef Andrew Selvaggio and the Arch Deluxe was created. He also launched a more grown-up version of their chicken sandwich and the fillet-o-fish. Sure, the price point was much higher but these were real sandwiches for people with jobs! Why wouldn't they buy it? I guess there were several reasons because this deluxe menu only lasted a couple of years. Now, it is just a distant memory and a cautionary tale. Know your customer and give them what they want...
