i had never left home before. i was so comfortable with how i lived, and was nervous about disrupting the lives of those i would be around.
where i'm from, most people don't look kindly at those who are different from them. that didn't happen here. instead, i felt like a friend. i experienced respect from strangers that i would never get at home.
even if things look different, once you actually pay attention, you realize that we are all the same in the end.
