May 6: Corey Marionneaux -- The Art of Breaking Free
--submitted by Jessika Kasten

Corey Marionneaux shared his powerful story of growing up in Chicago, enduring the tragic loss of his parents, and facing periods of incarceration. A natural leader, Corey always knew he wanted more out of life and made the decision to adapt to get out of “survival mode.” Ultimately, this decision propelled him to establish the Black Men’s Coalition Foundation. The foundation offers essential community services, including food delivery, work transportation, employment preparation, financial literacy classes in Dane County Jail, supportive housing and employment programs. Corey concluded his presentation by highlighting the significance of legacy, encouraging us to pursue success while inspiring others and refraining from making judgments about individuals whose circumstances and options we may not fully understand.
