Welcome back to Max Payne 3! This game has me feeling so many mixed emotions ahhhhh 🙃 Let's start with the obvious... I'm not the best when it comes to shooters and the shoot-dodging, bullet time, cover, and nonstop gunfights made that painfully clear. With that being said, I really enjoyed the challenge of each level and felt like I got better as we went along. The Sao Paulo setting, Rockstar polish, environmental detail, collectibles, and golden guns gave the campaign plenty to appreciate, even when some sections dragged a bit for me. The story was nonstop action, shock, and awe, but being a Max Payne title is where I instantly felt the disconnect. What happened to "I had a dream of my wife. She was dead. But it was all right"? Maybe I put too much stock in Max's acceptance at the end of the second game but seeing him regress was painful and made it feel like some of that character development had been lost. I'm glad I got to experience this one and form my own opinion, but I didn't connect with it the same way I did with the first two. Thanks for recommending it and taking time to watch it 💛
