Learning advanced guitar techniques is one thing, but applying them to actually making music is key. Hybrid picking acoustic guitar is a great technique for solo performers or players accompanying singers, so practicing in the context of a song makes all the difference.
In this short acoustic guitar video tutorial, Elixir Strings artist Massimo Varini takes you through a hybrid picking arrangement of the classic French nursery rhyme “Frere Jacques”. Although the chords used are simple, the right hand technique - incorporating pick, fingerpicking and strumming - is a challenge if you’re new to it. But it’s a rewarding workout that you’ll be able to apply in all sorts of situations when you have it perfected!
