I have an entire playlist of "churn style" and ninja creami ice cream recipes. But I mostly use the ninja creami now and only make high protein high fat ice creams that are healthier than store bought (because I have to eat so many calories just to maintain my current weight and eating solid foods is almost impossible to eat 4500 - 6000 calories a day - and btw, I only weight 130 lbs post-cancer -- pre-cancer I weighed around 165-170 and was pure muscle). I don't know why I can't gain weight (although I can lose weight easily) and the drs don't know either - its like my body is stuck in uber high burn calorie mode even if I am sedentary. If you have any ideas how to break this cycle, nothing I have done has worked for 5 years so I'd love to hear your ideas .... let me know in the comments.
So the ninja creami just seems faster for me, it takes less time to dump and mix and pour into containers than the churn style ice cream maker. Also, with the churn style maker I can only create 1 gallon at a time and well ... I could eat that in a day easily so that means I would have to make ice cream every day using churn style ... again, the ninja creami is just faster, more convenient, and saves me time (and money)
You can make ice cream for the fraction of the cost of store bought so the machine you go with will pay for itself very quickly. I figured up cost in many of the recipes I use but I'd estimate this very basic recipe below without any of the options is less than $1 a pint.
So I have fallen in love with the ninja creami - I make ice cream in bulk, 8 pints at a time and that only lasts me 2-4 days - I can eat 2-4 pints a day easily (at around 800 calories a pint, depending on the recipe and flavor). Here is a really simple basic recipe with practically no additives for 8 pints:
Recipe:
12 cups hot water
3 cups powdered milk (i use great value but you can use nido or similar)
Optional: 1 cup granulated sugar or 1 cup honey
12 x 30gr scoops protein powder or mass gainer protein
Optional: depending on flavor, you can add 8 tablespoons vanilla extract
Optional depending on flavor, you can add 1 cup melted butter or 1 cup cottage cheese, or 1 cup cream cheese - this makes your ice cream more creamie but I hardly ever use this now, I did in the churn style maker all the time though
Optional: if you use vanilla protein then add the butter, add some pecans as mixins and then you basically just created a vanilla butter pecan ice cream that is to die for
mix well, pour into creami containers, freeze, enjoy

They have different models:
ninja creami: amzn.to/44mcTdT
ninja creami: amzn.to/449z4oV (the one I have)
extra ninja creami cups for the model I have (off brand, cheaper, just as good): amzn.to/4lxDGL9
churn style I own: amzn.to/3TQ2CSl
kitchenaid mixer ice cream attachment I also own: amzn.to/4l6Ri07
If you don't have a kitchenaid mixer, get with the program and get one ... I don't know a single homesteader that doesn't own one and there is a reason ... they are simply the best and save you a huge amount of money buying the individual attachments you need over buying multiple individual powered devices.
Kitchenaid has several models to chose from, I personally use an 8 qt commercial: amzn.to/44blSNB but there are also the 3.5 QT amzn.to/3CmLtHf and the 5 QT artisan amzn.to/3X26DE5 along with the 7 QT pro-line amzn.to/45QFyrD
immersion blenders help with mixing (game changer in my kitchen) but just a wire whisk works too: amzn.to/4nKEKh1
