The Mars 2020 mission arrived at Mars on February 18, 2020. The mission includes the Perseverance rover and the helicopter Ingenuity.
The science objectives of the mission include:
1. Identifying if past environments on Mars were capable of supporting microbial life.
2. Seek for signs of ancient life in rocks known as biosignatures.
3. Collect and store rock and 'soil' samples for a future Mars Sample Return mission.
4. Prepare for human exploration by testing an electrolysis system which will produce oxygen from gases present in Mars' atmosphere.
