VIBES ADVISORY: THE FOLLOWING RUN CONTAINS A SIGNIFICANT QUANTITY OF BAD VIBES. Those who don't want to hear me be generally frustrated or complain about Toy Field might want to mute me at times. :P
After banging my head against this brick wall for long enough, I finally made a hole in it! With just a few very unfortunate events scattered throughout, this is an overall decent Mario run. Mario's category is less about managing a large number of goals and more about doing just a smaller number of really hard ones. I handled everything decently well, losing time mostly to minigame performance and Jumping Catch luck.
What went well:
I got Monty 3 Home Plate in Yoshi, which was an incredible relief.
I was able to Mercy Rule both Yoshi (3rd) and Peach (2nd), giving Mario maximum buddy chemistry opportunities to help with Grand Slam- which worked! I got it in DK, along with Pianta Home Run.
Indeed- everything except for Jumping Catch was taken care of before I got to Bowser.
I got a rad 1st try Barrel Batter :)
Bowser took 1 try, finished in 2 innings and was a fairly smooth ride!
What went wrong:
Spent a fair bit of time in a spillover match against Wario *only* for Jumping Catch. I got it relatively quickly but it still lost me some time.
2nd try Bob-Omb Derby- embarrassing. It's not a hard minigame.
4th try Toy Field. Just. Ugh.
The game didn't give me /any/ pitching Team Star chances that I could actually use until 5th inning of Wario. Annoying.
What went alright but could have gone better:
DK and Wario were both a little slow, but understandably so. I should just get luckier next time!
Could have gotten Empty Base Bunt faster- ended up losing 1:10 at Wario resetting for it.
My pitching was decently aggressive, but could have been even more bold. I think I played it right, though.
At time of upload, I have 5/6 of the captain WRs. Wario is the last one remaining... he is my next target.
