Note: as of 21/01/16 this glitch is no longer used for speedruns. We now do Rampaging Wiggler Skip (http://youtu.be/GqTK9ZjCl7E) and then the Walk Through Walls Glitch (http://youtu.be/Fwp6hyTQBPs) to reach King Bob-Omb, without even getting Trio Drill!

The only place where Trio Plane is still needed is in one room in Neo Bowser Castle, the top-right room of the 4 rooms where you have to hammer a platform to the centre room, to create a walkway. However, on 17/01/16 I found out that beating King Bob-Omb actually gives you Trio Plane, even if you skipped it. This means we can skip the 3 Toad missions in Mount Brrr, Papercraft Bowser Jr., the Fire Bros. minigame to reclaim the emblem, and the Larry and Ludwig fight. This in addition to everything we were already able to skip by reaching the Mount Brrr Tunnel Early, which is listed in that video's description.
To do this, first drill in the drill spot. Dash up the wall, and then hold down. As the game moves you from the wall to the floor, press A or B, and Mario will end up inside the wall. Now use Trio Grab to get everyone else inside the wall as well. Walk up, and then slowly move to the right. You should teleport up, and be inside a torch. Move back a bit to the left so you are in the centre of the torch, run down so you are against the wall, and then tap up. Now press A or B to exit Trio Grab, and press B to jump with Luigi.
Multiple things can now happen, depending on your positioning:
If Luigi disappeared, run down and then jump Mario up. All three characters should now be floating in the air. (This version is the fastest way to do this trick)
If Luigi did not disappear, run down and then wait for Paper Mario to fall down. Trio Grab, tap up, and then exit Trio Grab again. Mario and Paper Mario should now be floating slightly above Luigi. Press B and Y to get Luigi and Paper Mario up to the invisible ledge, and then run down and press A. All three characters should now be floating in the air. (This version is the way shown in the video)
Once everyone is floating, run as far down as possible, then run as far left as possible. Now use Trio Grab, and immediately exit Trio Grab. Now run left, watching the bottom screen. Once you are past the steps at the section below you, use Trio Drill. Dash to the left until you fall down to the area below. Position yourself at the left hand side of the nearby drill spot, facing up, as close to the wall as possible, then exit Trio Drill. Mario should now be in the wall again. Now run up as far as you can and then use Trio Grab. Walk to the left, past the edge of the room, and then just run around the room to reach the top loading zone!
SolidifiedGaming (youtube.com/user/SolidifiedGaming) found the trick with the drill spot to clip Mario inside the wall, and I figured out how to reach the top loading zone from there.
