The hike begins on a Forest Service road, then winds through a young forest and into old-growth before descending about 340 feet to the lake beneath Mount Margaret. The lake offers peaceful spots to camp, relax, or explore. Be sure to check snow conditions, as the trailhead typically becomes inaccessible by mid-November.
