In this Artist Greenroom clip taken from the Gibson Gear Guide, Marcus sits with host Dinesh Lekhraj and breaks down why his ES-345 is the ultimate tone machine, from its pure bridge pickup sound to the way he doesn’t have to adjust his settings too much to get his signature sound.
He shares how he gets that creamy Clapton-style “woman tone,” how he loves the purity of his ES-345 pickups, and how with his signature ES-345, he often doesn’t even need to touch the tone pots to get his signature sound, but relies more on the attack of his fingers. He also explains why the stereo setup on his vintage model requires a different playing style and why he stuck with the iconic sideways vibrola instead of a stop tailpiece, with one key modification.
Marcus explains how his signature Gibson guitars became a symbol of his family’s legacy and how his previous Gibson Custom replica of “Big Red” became a tribute to the man who gave it to him.
