This Mammoth Lakes hike was unforgettable. Crystal Crag is one of the most famous hiking and climbing routes in Mammoth Lakes, and there are several routes to the summit. While we have taken the standard hiking and scrambling approach in the past, we have always wondered whether it would be possible to ascend Crystal Crag purely by scrambling up the ridgeline. You all can tell us how we did :) The Lake Mary, Crystal Crag and Crystal Lake area of Mammoth is a bucketlist hiking destination for anyone visiting Mammoth Lakes. Even if you're just looking for a beautiful day hike, taking the standard hiking route just to Crystal Lake is a real treat. Hiking in the Eastern Sierra never gets old!
