Recently I have been using the clay extruder and balloons to make these fun baskets. My eventual goal is to make a series of large hanging baskets for a landscape installation. Towards that end, I have made a variety of sizes and shapes to learn what I can about the process.
Of course, there are many other possible uses for the balloon technique besides this. I hope you enjoy and are inspired to try something new.
Also, you don't need a clay extruder to do this. Yes, it helps a lot, but is not the only way. Rolling coils by hand would also work, as long as you can keep your coils damp until needed. Rolling a slab out and cutting clay strips works as well.
