I made an 1860's styled toddler dress for my future niece! I had never made a historical garment for a child before. The dress is so cute and tiny! I used Fig Leaf Pattern: KF671 Toddler Dress and Jacket for Boys and Girls, c. 1855 to 1865, size 12 month to 4T. I got it off of their Etsy store which you can visit here: etsy.com/listing/91150167/kf671-toddler-dress-and-jacket-for-boys?ref=shop_home_active_2&sca=1
This is a unisex garment as both boys and girls wore dresses until they were potty-trained. It's really the historical version of a onesie. The color of the fabric, trim, and hairstyles usually set boys apart from girls in photographs. Girls usually had their hair parted in the middle, while boys usually had their hair parted to the side. Boy's usually wore warm colors while girls were usually dressed in cool colors. This pattern gives many different options for the bodice, sleeve, and skirt that can create many different and varied looks for this simple garment.
This pattern also comes with pattern pieces to make a sort sleeved jacket, but I only made the dress.
