Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping. 🍀 Would like to welcome you each in to our kitchen this beautiful evening. Today we will be working with a very medicinal plant known as Mandarina Balm or Melissa officinalis var. 'Mandarina'.
This beautiful medicinal herb is a sister plant to lemon balm. It has a beautiful scent kinda like a mandarin orange and it is also known as orange balm. It is not as tall as lemon balm and is a spreading grower unlike its sister plant.
Now let's delve in to the medicinal benefits of this herb as a infused oil that I will be making a salve out of. As a infused oil and salve it is a potent antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal. It contains antiviral properties that can accelerate the healing of herpes simplex (cold sores) and fever blisters when applied as an infused oil or salve. As a oil or salve it can heal bug bites and abrasions stopping any chance of them becoming infected. Rubbing it on the lower stomach area can help women with stomach cramps. These are the main uses of this important medicinal herb. Of course do the research to make sure it is the right choice for you.

2 cups of dehydrated mandarina balm
6 cups of plain olive oil
