Hello everyone and welcome to a new video!
I wasn't really sure what to call this dress so I put out a feeler on my Instagram and I got some GREAT replies. Let me know in the comments what you think would describe this dress! Some of my faves were: dark cottagecore, winter cottagecore, witchy cottage, witchy academia, Narnia vibes, Renaissance vibes... I could go on and on!
Well, this dress was loosely inspired by some vintage styles and some dresses/patterns I found. I wanted to make a cute, comfy dress, which would feature these lovely buttons and that I could do for every day wear. I also wanted to make the dress as swishy as I could, because I live *for the swish*.
I made it from four meters of lightweight wool suiting (and it did use nearly all that fabric!). I had some bittersweet feelings about it, because originally I was making it to wear on Christmas day with my family but... anyway. I am glad it is completed and that it is a pretty decent make! Part 2 will come soon, I had to break it up because I go into quite a bit of detail on how to draft and make the gored skirt, and so it would've been really long. There's also info on making the super drapey full sleeves and embroidered cuffs :) Until next week!
