Crafts With Ellen | Making a bomber jacket for Laura @CraftsWithEllen | Uploaded 6 years ago | Updated 2 hours ago
This is a project that I started on pretty much a year ago. I had the idea that I wanted to make Laura a bomber jacket, but I'd never made a jacket and, to be honest, they kind of terrified me. So many pieces, lining, pockets... But I had a goal and I wanted to get there.
In the end I made a total of four jackets: two outer shells from scrap fabric to help me get the pattern the way I wanted it to be, one lined jacket for myself to practice and finally the lined jacket for Laura. It's been a true labour of love and I'm very proud of not only the outcome, but also the many new skills that I learned while making it.
This project was way too elaborate for a single video, so I ended up making some separate videos about specific techniques and referring to other technique videos I've already made:
- Tracing a pattern: youtu.be/hcPuJM96ARk
- Flat fell seam: youtu.be/-Bbva3k6wyc
- French seam: youtu.be/3QclI1HS7ug
- Welt pocket: youtu.be/ZpG10GWXJN4
