It's not easy to build, or cheap. It may in fact be another design failure that turned my life into a wasteland of effort. But it is a cool invention that works exceptionally well. It just takes too much to make. You can get started building this state-of-the-art cheese slicer for $30 plus shipping on Ebay. If you want the stainless sled, you will have to find that on your own. plenty of metal scrap dealers on Ebay.
