Intune MacOS What is a Configuration Profile?

Configuration management is maintaining computer systems and software in a desired state to ensure that they perform as expected to changes made over time.

A Configuration profile allows Admins to manage configurations and settings centrally from an MDM solution portal and deploy those to all the managed devices across the Globe.

Using profiles, we can update or modify a bulk list of devices instead of manually changing settings for each of them. This saves time and effort for IT admins.

Custom settings are configured differently for each platform. E.g., on Apple devices, profiles already created using Apple Configurator or Apple Profile Manager can also be easily imported to Intune.

To protect organisation's resources, IT Admins can control all device settings and features through the config profile.

Scammers often use convincing messages to trick people, This feature restrict the usage of outside/ personal email on organisation devices.

Many apps ask for permission or setting, so IT Admins has the power to disable them according to the priority.

To increase data security, Admins can prevent the usage of automatic data upload on 3rd party cloud storage and data sync.

Admins also can set minimum password length, types, block simple passwords to make it never easy for others to access.

Admins can block unwanted gaming apps to increase productivity.
Admins provide access to users to install patches, so devices should be compliant and hard to get hacked.
