What is DaaS?

Traditional on-prem VDI solution is hosted in private DC, and end-to-end VDI solution is managed by internal IT dept.

DaaS is Desktop as a Service?

DaaS is a Desktop as a Service offering from vendors.
This Virtual Desktop or Application offering is coming from a public cloud or service provider.
Vendors provide fully managed control plane service as part of DaaS offering.

Self-Assembled DaaS?

This is the DaaS offering that is very close to the Traditional on-prem VDI solution. The only difference is core infra components and hosting are fully managed by vendors.

Other infra components such as server, network, security, and storage configurations are managed by vendors.

Customers also have the option to customize some of these server, network, security, and storage configurations.

Strengths - Decrease in Operational Complexity
Requires fewer skills to manage and maintain
Tightly aligned with other modern solutions

Opportunities - Better Employee Experience
3rd party tools for cost/license optimization

Weaknesses - Limited VM Templates/Specs available
Not possible to host VDIs in On-Prem
Fixed Cost

Threats - Limited DR/BCP Options
Not yet a matured market

Vendor Assembled means the vendor manages most parts of the solution. Server, Storage, and Infra configurations are fully managed by the vendor.

The vendor manages other components, such as network, security, image management, app management, and user support.

Customers also have the option to customize the following components network, security, image management, app management, and user support.
