Also no runes or buffs. Took a few hours to get this one, for whatever reason consistently dealing with phase 1 suddenly clicked within the last hour or so. After getting the kill I briefly experimented with no gems at all and almost got to phase 2, so maybe in the future after enough attempts I could pull it off and maybe even do something with worse damage. Despite all these restrictions the boss still works and most deaths are the player's fault rather than just getting bad RNG.
Learned a lot from watching several other kills, mainly Akio Bird's kill(youtube.com/watch?v=Zq3BbsGSXsI) and HorseLoverLudwig's kill(youtube.com/watch?v=0Sizq_kTXMA)
