Orphan of Kos - BL4 NG+6 No Rolling/Quickstepping, Sprinting, Blood Gems, Buffs or RunesAkio Bird2017-06-13 | "...Ahh, the poor little babby, returned to the Ocean... A bottomless curse, backstabs so free. The easiest boss that there is and can be."Sigrun, Queen of the Valkyries | Level 1 (no blocking, no equipment, no damage) - GoW difficultyAkio Bird2018-05-17 | Wow, this fight is awesome. And seeing as it's practically the only true boss fight in the entire game in my opinion, it had better be pretty fantastic.
I wouldn't have expected that a boss with so much health could be so enjoyable, yet I feel like Sigrun very nearly makes up for the utterly disgraceful caliber of boss variety throughout the rest of the game... which is saying a lot... But if this is a sign of what the next games will bring in terms of boss fights, I eagerly await the rest of the series. Not gonna get my hopes up too high yet though.
Game-mechanics wise, I have some issues with the fact that you can only sprint forward, and the camera position is off-centered so the lock on can cause some inconsistencies, both of which become even more prevalent during the Valkyrie fights; but that's just me being whiny.
Regardless of its faults, this game has been a ton of fun to play. From the beginning to the end, I felt like I never wanted it to be over. The core mechanics and ideas in this game have so much potential, I can't wait to see what the ensuing games will have to offer.
Also, if you're interested, I had a funny attempt where Sigrun glitched super high in the air and didn't come down: youtu.be/Dic8wK6zIssMHWorld: Nergigante Greatsword Solo 200Akio Bird2018-03-07 | Made some dumb mistakes and I was really hoping for the sub 2, but I think I'll leave this here; at least until I get some better gems and can actually augment my weapon. Not really as bad as I thought it would be, but it would definitely be at least 4 times better if the stumps didn't exist. Also his homing soulmass and heal are boring and a huge time waster. Overall I still don't really like this boss. He's trying too hard to just mash a bunch of mechanics into one fight, without excelling in any one area imo Sword and spear mode and phase 2 are honestly pretty fun but I think pyromancy mode is dumb, and mage phase is... mage phase.
I almost killed him once but I panic-jumped near the end of phase 2 when running away from the 5-hit combo. On another run, I tried to get greedy and finish him off with 1 extra attack but his swing came out the same time mine did and we killed each other. This probably took longer than all the other fights I've done recently combined.
Massive shout out to Tdog for being an inspiration and influence in my life (for better or for worse), and starting the journey that got me here today. Not only because he was the first person by a large margin to figure this shit out, but I probably never would've touched an SL1 run if it weren't for him. And I definitely never imagined I'd ever end up doing the same stuff he did. You'll always be the one true mandingo, Tolo.

Since you can't reliably avoid Lorian's stand-up slam attack, you have to try and beat the shit out of these two as quick as possible. I accidentally did a running attack at 1:28 so I couldn't recover quick enough to get away from the stomp, woops. Running to the side of his kick like that is a bit risky because if you're in the wrong place he can just follow up immediately with another kick (at least I think that's why it happens), but it's fun to do when you do it right.Dragonslayer Armour - SL1 NG+7 No Rolling/Blocking/ParryingAkio Bird2017-08-19 | Pretty fun fight in my opinion. Though apparently I suck at it because I can never get him to follow up with the attacks I want him to do, and I couldn't reliably avoid his big, shield ground slam attack for close range strats so I opted for a slower, easier strategy and the kill ended up being a bit long. If you react fast enough you can stay very close to him and avoid all his attacks, but it's much more difficult.
I'd be more willing to put more time into this fight to try and improve this kill, but the fact that I have to wear headphones to be able to do it adequately is a bit of a put off. Not to mention the elevator from the bonfire is 17 centuries long, so I'll just move on to princes/champion gundyr I think. Sorry for whining lol, I like the fight a lot, but there's just enough about it that annoys me to where I simply wanted to get it over with.

Fists only No Rolling or Damage (Daniel N): youtu.be/bMo-y6Olei0Dancer of the Boreal Valley - SL1 NG+7 No Rolling/Blocking/ParryingAkio Bird2017-08-18 | Apart from the Lothric Knights assaulting you through the fog gate, this wasn't that bad at all. She only has a couple attacks that are tricky to avoid, and her low hp makes it relatively easy for her to end up not using them. By moving counterclockwise from her ass (how fitting that this the ideal position to be in for this boss) as she begins her attacks you can smoothly avoid the majority of them, and the ones that you can't are reactable on sight. She's pretty fun to do without rolling.Pontiff Sulyvahn - SL1 NG+7 No Rolling/Blocking/ParryingAkio Bird2017-08-16 | ...Laurence - BL4 NG+6 No Rolling/Quickstepping or SprintingAkio Bird2017-06-07 | This was pretty difficult, though phase 3 is the real hard part. The Taco Bell manoeuvre as well as the giant slow slam require you to start walking away very early, but if you're too early he can do the backhand with his smaller arm.
I probably don't need to say it but Laurence's positioning is also extremely important. He'll turn towards you after his backhands, and you can use this to control which direction he crawls. Which is great, and crucial, because if he crawls into a wall it will likely just push him into you. Also his lava trail can get in the way when walking away from the super delayed slam if he's not turned away from it beforehand.Ludwig, the Holy Blade - BL4 NG+6 No Rolling/Quickstepping, Sprinting, Chalice gems or BuffsAkio Bird2017-05-20 | If you're just the right distances away from him after he does the double magic waves, you can safely deal with all the attacks he has to offer. Contrary to what I had thought the last time I did Ludwig no sprint, there're 2 small RNG elements in the fight, as opposed to 1 large one: in phase 1, sometimes after you break one of his limbs he will walk ever so slightly further towards you than he normally does before attacking, and that first hit of that claw swipe combo that you can walk under will just barely reach you, when normally he uses it slightly further away. The other issue is in phase 2 when he does his weird side-shuffle thing towards you and does the vertical slam. Fortunately these really aren't that common though.
The biggest problem in phase 1 is kiting him around the arena so that he doesn't back you up against a wall. Also you have to stay close to him at certain times because if he does the charge at long range you're fucked.Level 7 NG+6 Burial Blade (no chalice gems, buffs or runes) | Laurence, the First VicarAkio Bird2017-05-09 | Laurence is a very healthy boy. Definitely my favorite from this DLC. The crazy spin combo is one of his biggest openings once you find the safe spot. Most of his attacks are pretty straightforward and can all be avoided without rolling, you just have to be a bit careful for his extended combos in phase 2.LV4 NG+6 Ludwig (3 x 26% gems, no buffs)Akio Bird2017-05-04 | This was just a random fight I did that turned out nicely. There are so many different ways to bait out attacks and punish them on Orphan, especially phase 2, so he's extremely complex. Definitely one of my top 3 souls bosses.Demon Prince - SL1 NG+7 No Rolling/BlockingAkio Bird2017-04-28 | When I started fighting these guys, phase 1 made me want to cry. The toxic demons quickly become just as annoying as the buffed ones when they walk up to you and spam poison puddles and melee attacks. But by the end I was familar enough with it to get them both down in decent time on a consistent basis. Phase 2 is really fun, apart from some of his attacks becoming impossible to avoid when he's near a wall. At least that lets you see his long range attacks more often. I missed out on a couple of laser punishes too because I was trying to re-position him which dragged out the fight a bit. Better safe than sorry.
The premise of the fight is that all the attacks miss if you approach from the front and run to their left (your right); but it's a lot more difficult than it seems when phase 1 gives you two degenerates to deal with, and phase 2 has larger hitboxes and more variations on melee attacks and combos. Quite an enjoyable fight overall though.Darkeater Midir - SL1 NG+7 No Rolling, Blocking or SprintingAkio Bird2017-04-26 | Even if this is RNG, I still found it pretty fun because of how good Midir is. Once I figured out how to avoid the flying firebreath, the only RNG factor was the pursuers. I might be imagining things but I think he'll either summon pursuers on like his second attack in phase 2, or he won't summon them until way later. I'd say a good 80% of my phase 2 attempts were immediately snuffed out by pursuers. I goofed the phase transition and wasn't buffed this time, but I still just barely had enough damage in the end.
The flying firebreath can be avoided without sprinting if he backs into a wall, but it is pretty hard to keep him in a position you want while dealing good damage and not sprinting. You can also get away with a well timed Milwood Axe weapon art. I made an effort to only use the weapon art if I had to, but I needed to this time unfortunately.Level 7 NG+6 Burial Blade (no chalice gems, buffs or runes) | Lady MariaAkio Bird2017-04-25 | Muh dance between hunters ;_;

I'm kind of bottom bothered that I still haven't been able to show one of his attacks in phase 1 that you can punish without rolling. It's the one where he dashes back then drags his sword forward on the ground and ends with an uppercut from left to right. If you sprint forward and to the right he charges past you and misses, kind of similar to Ludwig's phase 2 forward charge uppercut. It feels, and looks good to avoid that way, but he never does it in my kills :(
At first, 90% of my deaths were because I didn't have enough stamina to roll after one of my attacks. Especially in phase 1, you can really give him a beating with a fast weapon, so with minimum stamina and no chloranthy ring you have to be very selective with your attack windows. (Although I was whiffing a bunch of attacks in phase 1 this time, they weren't actually dangerous 'cause I wasn't running out of stamina, just dumb and lazy) I could still be a bit more aggressive at times in phase 2/3, but I was getting a bit shaky and didn't want to take too many risks. There were a few close calls and a couple moments where I slipped up and could have gotten hit, but I feel like this went decently overall.
I'm really happy that both parts of the fight are very good, because it keeps attempts from getting boring and tedious in my opinion. Gael's just very fun to fight overall, and the instant runback makes him even better to practice against.SL1 NG+7 Slave Knight GaelAkio Bird2017-04-04 | I felt a bit cheesy using poison, and I'm still not that familiar with all his different phase 3 jump slams, so I'm going to redo this fight eventually without buffs. As well as doing this and the other 2 good DLC fights no-roll.
At first before I decided to go with poison, I wasn't sure if Astora's Straight Sword or DragonSlayer Axe was better for this fight, as DSA did 250 buffed as opposed to Astora's ~180. I could get a lot of 2 hit openings with the DSA that would also only be 2 hits with the ASS, as well as some 4 hit openings with the ASS which could be punished for more damage with an R2 followed by 2 R1's with the DSA. I'm still not sure which would be better if you don't use poison, but the straight sword is much safer in general. BTW, poison resin does 3003 damage total over 90 seconds If my testing was correct. So 33.33 DPS and about 10-11 hits to apply. And he has about 21400 HP on NG+7
Phase 1 has a ton of attack opportunities, and a lot of ways to punish his attacks without rolling, so it's very fast paced and fun. In phase 2 and 3, you want to bait out his big poke as much as possible because it's his biggest opening. It's a bit confusing to remember where all the firewaves are with each attack, but once you get it down it's pretty satisfying to dodge through the attacks.
I think this is now my favourite boss in the DLC and Dark Souls 3, though I wish phase 1 had a bit more to it. I would've liked a soft phase change half way through phase 1 to add some stuff, and make him go to the current phase 2/3 at 50% and 25% hp respectively. I feel like that could've worked with how durable Gael is.
Still, good job FromSoft. Great final DLC in my opinion.Fast Midir fightAkio Bird2017-04-04 | Pursuers got me at the end RIP I think I could've lived if I did a running R1 instead of an R2SL1 NG+7 Darkeater MidirAkio Bird2017-04-04 | Having only played Dark Souls 2 and 3 previously, this is undoubtedly the best dragon boss I've fought in Dark Souls.
He's incredibly consistent for such a large enemy, letting you punish his head on almost every attack. As well, most of his attacks won't reach you if you're walking away soon enough, so you can escape every move with ease as long as you don't get greedy on attacks.SL1 NG+7 Halflight, Spear of the ChurchAkio Bird2017-04-04 | Okay, sorry it's taken forever for me to upload the rest of the DLC fights. I tend to be slow with new content, and I was trying to get decently fast fights so I spent a lot longer on the bosses than I feel like I otherwise would have. (not talking about this boss, I couldn't care less about halfshit)
I don't think I need to tell anyone how terrible this boss is. Just... why FromSoft... why...
I was kind of going for a flawless kill but in the end said fuck it. I ban him.SL1 NG+7 Demons in Pain/from Below + Demon PrinceAkio Bird2017-03-30 | Flamberge is disgusting.
Really good boss, just phase 1 can be a bit dumb when 2 of them ignite at the same time. I got decent RNG here and a lucky stagger that saved me. With the flamberge and resins you have really good bleed, damage, and stagger damage, so you can usually kill phase 2 in 2 staggers.
In phase 1 most attacks will miss if you stay under/ behind them, so 1 on 1 they are extremely easy. When only 1 of them is ignited you can kite him away from the other and fight him while the one on cooldown spams ranged attacks. When they both ignite you just have to play extremely patiently and carefully because they run up to you and fuck your shit up so fast. When one does his flurry crawl thing away from you and the other, it lets you get a few hits in also. A couple things that were annoying me are how much space their models take up on the screen when you're really close to them, especially their wings. Also the random walls and shit all over the place. There's always something about boss arenas that just piss you off.
Phase 2 is really damn good on its own. Again, many attacks will miss if you stay under him, but the Demon Prince is a bit faster and has more repositioning attacks so it's harder to stick to him. Unless there's something I'm missing, the laser form is way easier than the meteor form, so you always want to kill Demon In Pain first.
I've said it a few times; phase 1 could be a bit better thought out in regards to their ignite timing, but for a multi-enemy fight this is really solid imo.Level 4 NG+6 Hunters Torch only - Ludwig, the Accursed/Holy BladeAkio Bird2017-03-22 | This ended up taking about five-six hours all together. In general, I find phase 1 to be the harder of the two because he is so skittish, and there are more slightly dangerous opportunities to sneak damage in. Also, the fact that he can brony stomp a split second after getting staggered is pretty scary. Phase 1 also benefits good positioning over I-frames much more than phase 2 (at least the way I was approaching it), which I personally find more difficult to execute properly for extended periods of time.
I was literally 1 hit away from winning on one attempt, and dodged right into his two-hit atttack: (youtu.be/SXyg07xTAEI) I was so mad at myself I wanted to quit Bloodborne for a while, but I took a break for a day and a few tries into my next attempts I got the kill. As long as you're ready for the tell for that attack (he raises his sword in the air for a split second) it's not that hard to avoid, provided you're not a complete moron like me.
The other problem move in my opinion is his long combo in phase 2 (2 horizontals followed by a slam then uppercut [13:54]) because if you mess up the timing on the first two hits you'll avoid one, but the second one will hit you anyway because it's so fast afterwards. It's just ever so slightly more precise than dodging most other attacks. You can however just play safe and dodge backwards from the first swipe if you feel like your timing will be off, or you're positioned badly or something, but dodging into the first two swipes will let you get off an extra attack or two. Also, if you're far enough to his left side and already walking counterclockwise when he starts the attack, you can avoid the first swipe without dodging and just dodge the second hit (11:04).
The "moveset" of the torch is pretty awkward for phase 2, because ideally, you want to be constantly moving around Ludwig using the momentum from attacks to better position yourself, but the simple pokes of the torch make it much harder to do than with say, the saw cleaver.
All in all, this is probably my favourite boss fight in any game. Honestly, I don't ever really like choosing favourites and Orphan would come within a hair's width of that title, but I think the fact that phase 1 and 2 of Ludwig are so drastically different makes him more captivating to me.
Some timestamps: Phase 1 head stagger: 9:40 Phase 2 start: 10:10 First Phase 2 stagger: 13:01 2nd last stagger: 18:22

Definitely in my top 3. Lots of openings, and lots of ways to die. I started using weapon skills because they're fun and interesting to use but found they were extremely strong, especially against staggerable humanoids, so I used a lower level weapon to compensate. I'm pretty sure the katana isn't the "best weapon" for this fight because spear and kusa are just too good, but it's my personal favourite. That's all the Nioh fights for a good long while, it was fun while it lasted but I haven't had enough time to really do everything I wanted to. Up next is probably some more of the burial blade run.Shitty Okatsu no roll killAkio Bird2017-03-15 | So for the most part all you can do safely is wait for her double charge attack and punish that, because of her throwing knifes, which is pretty ResidentSleeper. Most of her close range attacks can be punished but she can almost always just jump back and throw knifes after so if you're not quick enough or miss there's a good chance you'll get fucked. The other thing that's a real bitch is her mid-range flip kick with insane tracking, which she can also appear to do at any time, up to three times in a row... hahahahaa.... Nioh store.playstation.com/#!/en-ca/tid=CUSA07113_00Level 4 NG+6 no rolling/sprinting/quickstepping Ludwig the Accursed/Holy BladeAkio Bird2017-03-08 | Thought I'd try and grind this out while the ideas were still fresh in my mind. If you're standing at the right place at the right time by his sides you can always bait out the two best attacks which combo into the slams. The only real difference between this and the NG kill is that I'm a lot more familiar with the range to stand at to bait the attacks which let me get close to him. I still think there's a chance he'll do the charge-sweep attack after the double waves which I really see no way around. I tried just waiting for his gap closers at very long range, which you can punish, but he usually spams waves and walks you to the edge of the arena before doing those attacks so I'm tempted to say the rng is even worse with that strat.Ludwig the Accursed/Holy Blade Level 4 no rolling, dashing, sprintingAkio Bird2017-03-07 | I ended up using a kind of altered strat from the regular no roll kills. You can pretty much bait and punish the same attacks, just it's harder to do because you're slower. The biggest RNG check is the charge attack where he sweeps from his left to right, then follows up into either a 2 or 3 hit combo, because if he does it at certain ranges there seems to be no way around it. You can however get to his left side, which is where you want to be, if you're far enough away to outspace the first 2 hits. I thought that last hit in phase 1 would've been enough to trigger the cutscene, but it wasn't so I got hit for that. And when he hit me with that backhand in phase 2 it was because I was standing too far away to bait out the attack I wanted. That charge where he drags the sword on his right side is kind of difficult to chain into the punishable combo. I'll probably try to do this on NG+6 later.Nioh: Twilight Ishida Mitsunari Level 1 no rolling, dashing, blockingAkio Bird2017-03-04 | It's honestly pretty fun to fight him this way once you figure out how to avoid all his attacks. The biggest problem with this fight tends to be the arena, much like a lot of fights in this game. His fast dragon attack, which he didn't do in this kill, can be avoided by running to the right as long as you're close enough to him: youtu.be/zotmp1JyAxU and: youtu.be/fJ3NA12TEdg The issue with this, is that to avoid the wave attack where he shoots 4 in a line in front of him, you need to be far enough away to where you can run to the side before it hits you. And that attack has a very quick startup time so you always need to be anticipating it. So you need to stay at the right distance, while kiting him around the room in such a way that you can always run right to avoid his quick dragon attack. For some reason, I couldn't for the life of me get a good kill where he did every attack, despite killing him probably 20 times like this. The few times he did use all his attacks, I accidentally rolled at some point during the fight. This is one of the better phase 2s that I had, so you can see avoiding all of his attacks in conjunction with eachother: youtu.be/BbGNH92vlfw When he sends out the 4 waves all around him, the first 3 are fixed and the last one tracks you slightly, so there is a way to avoid it from any position, but sometimes it changes based on where you are when he starts the animation for it. I also found that sometimes he would get stuck doing the wave flurry multiple times in a row if I ran back to him quickly: youtu.be/cgfgB2noFQk It drains his stamina slowly, but is extremely consistent to avoid the waves. I really liked Ishida thematically and mechanically my first playthrough, but after doing this, I started liking Ishida even more as a boss fight. I would say he's in my top 3, along with Okatsu and White Tiger, in no particular order.

I'll be uploading bosses out of order, and they won't all be no roll kills, as some bosses are much more fun when you can roll. I'm going pretty slowly, and haven't actually gotten that far into NG+ yet on my lvl1. Mainly because of the fact that you can just go back to fight a boss again if you want to. Sometimes letting go of x to stop sprinting will register as an input, making you roll. The times I rolled in this video did nothing to help me, as i was already out of range of his attack, and it delayed MY punish on him. No i-frames were used, and the distance covered by the dodges didn't help me at all so I don't feel too guilty about uploading this kill. This is honestly probably the most aggravating thing to lose an attempt to, so I really didn't want to bother trying again.
I may continue this run in NG+, and twilight mode, or I might do it with dodging, we will see how things go. I'll probably upload some more fights in the near future, but for the time being I just wanted to put this up. I'm still not quite sure what I want to do with Nioh yet, but I'm loving every minute of it. Apart from accidental rolling. That shit can suck my dick

Some things I noticed: I found mid stance spear to be better for taking out the eyeballs, as it's slightly faster, and has a more horizontal swing arc. And I'm pretty sure he only spawns 2 more waves at the end of the fight, so if you take it slow, you can get rid of the eyeballs then you don't have to worry about hitting him while getting shot by lazers
No roll is done, and my Burial Blade run is about half way finished but I have a feeling I won't have much to upload after Nioh releases because I'll be going full casual in that for a while, so I've been taking my time with putting up the kills.

It still took a goddamn while though, noodle arms in phase 2 make me very anxious :s

The hardest things to deal with are his charge and his crossbow in this tiny circular arena.
